Who Can Join?

We are a newcomers’ club, as such, it is generally understood that membership is for those who have recently moved to the Oceanside area.

 

How Do I Join?

Attend a general meeting where you can sign up in person.  General meetings are held the second Tuesday or every month at 10am at St. Stephen’s United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach.  Everyone is welcome!

PLEASE NOTE: Couples must register SEPARATELY.  Each member must have a unique email address as your email serves as your membership ID.

Please note, it may take up to several days for your account to reflect the new dates of your membership.  Email payments do not automatically update all account information, there are manual steps in that process that may take some time.

 

How Much Does It Cost?

Recently we changed our fiscal year to a calendar year at the Annual General Meeting on April 14, 2026. The membership dues for this coming shorter year (May 1 – Dec 31, 2026) have been reduced to $20 per person. If you joined between January and April 2026, you do not need to pay again until January 2027.

Payments can be made at a general meeting (by cash or cheque) or by e-transfer to membership@qbnewcomers.org.

 

How Long Can I Be a Member?

The QBANC membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st.  The term of membership is normally three+ years. The three-year clock begins the first December 31st after an individual joins.

 

Name Tags

We encourage all members to have a name tag, to be worn at club meetings, activities and events.  This is a great way to get to know the names of the rest of the membership.

Newcomers’ Name Tags can be purchased for $12 (pin tag) or $15 (magnetic tag) at a general meeting.  You will be able to pick up your Name Tag at the next general meeting or by arrangement with the membership coordinator.

 

What Can I Expect Once I Join the Club?

Once you have registered with the club, your name will be entered by our volunteers onto our club database.  This can take a few days, please be patient with us.  All new members are encouraged and welcome to attend monthly General Meetings.  This is a great opportunity to meeting other newcomers and to find out about club happenings.  Additionally, we encourage you to explore our website, where you can sign up for regularly occurring activity groups or special events.  Once a month, we send an email newsletter to all members.
