   pe03050_       Bird Watching

Bird watching, or "birding", has become one of Canada's most popular outdoor activities. It is challenging, yet one of the simplest and most rewarding means of spending time in the natural world. We organize a number of outings each year to watch and identify the various species that frequent the Oceanside area.

   MCj03843200000[1]        Dominoes

We play on the 4th Friday of every month at 7:00 pm. If you haven‘t played before – no problem, we‘ll place you with people who will be happy to show you how. The game is relaxed, easy to learn and just for fun! Each host will have between 6 – 8 players on average, depending on the participation level. Hosts serve tea and coffee, and their guest players are asked to bring a simple snack to share. This is a great opportunity for singles and couples alike to get out and meet new friends. It‘s only once a month – so give it a try.

MCj02334900000[1]    Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

This event will give you a chance to meet new friends in comfortable surroundings, with good food and conversation. For those newcomers unfamiliar with how "Guess Who" works, here's a quick overview.

On a prearranged date, hosts prepare a main meal, plus tea and/or coffee, for an agreed number of guests (most commonly 6 or 8), but won't know who they are until the doorbell rings. Guests are notified of the hosts' address several days ahead, and are asked to take along one course--appetizers, salad and buns, or a dessert--plus their own beverage. It's that easy - and that fun!

We have four dinners during the season, between September and March. Solos and couples are welcome, and we'll do our best to accommodate allergy-sufferers.

              MCj02324380000[1]    Snow Sports

We have started a Newcomer's snow group, which includes cross country skiers, downhill skiers, and snowshoers. The lodges at Mt. Washington, which is just over an hour's drive from Qualicum Beach, are set up so that cross country and downhill skiers can make a day of it as a group. If you have even a slight interest in a skiing group, feel free to sign up.

Note:  Sale of early bird passes closes on Sept. 30th.

There are good savings in all categories.  The Senior Bronze pass is $249, a savings of $50 (regular senior Mon-Fri. $299).

With seniors day rates at $50 per day, it is easy to pay off the pass in just 5 days of downhill, or a dozen Nordic.
